I've been teaching piano for as long as I can remember; first to my younger brothers, and then to others once I got my Peery Teacher Pre-Certification seven years ago. I'm not far removed from being a piano student myself, so it's not hard for me to find ways to motivate my students. Bach taught the music that was popular in his day; I help my students find the kind of music that they want to play, whether that's Bartók or part of a movie soundtrack, and they are able to play it because first we create a foundation of technical skills (scales, arpeggios, and etudes) to support it. I also emphasize practical skills including performance etiquette and sight reading.

PIANO PEDAGOGYI have been fortunate to learn piano from Susan Bana, Tao Chang, Scott McBride-Smith, Brandon Stewart, Irene Peery-Fox, and Christie Peery Skousen, and to study organ with Dr. Tom Mueller. I trace my piano teaching lineage through Brandon Stewart directly back to Beethoven! It brings me great joy to pass on this legacy to each student that I teach. |
MUSICAL TRAININGIn addition to playing piano competitively, I play organ and trombone, and have sung for ten years with the Millennial Choir and Orchestra. Music has given me incredible opportunities (performing at Disneyland, recording #1 debuting albums, going on multi-state tours, playing in pit orchestras, and more). I am excited to share this amazing world of music with my students. |
